Mercier Massage Therapy for Pelvic Pain

Pelvic Massage

Mercier Massage Therapy is a technique used to help restore the health and general well being within the female pelvis. This gentle and non invasive technique was created to help you to reconnect to your divine feminine and to allow your pelvis, a highly emotional space, to re-open to healing and balance.

Pelvic massage is for women who have adhesions in their reproductive tract. Adhesions act like glue -- disrupting the function of affected organs. The massage involves gentle stretching to loosen tightened areasof soft tissue and is continued until the tension is released. The goal is to decrease adhesions in and around the organs, ligaments, muscles, joints and support structures of the pelvis, abdomen, hips and lower back. It is gentle and noninvasive and has a success rate of 71% (IVF's success rate is as low as 20%).

Retraining pelvic organs to return to their normal status and function is the common sense approach to increasing your chance of conceiving and improving your health at the same time.

Pelvic massage has proven to help the following issues:

  • Infertility
  • Endometriosis
  • Poly cystic Ovarian Syndrome
  • Pelvic Scaring or adhesions from previous surgery

  • Sexual Abuse trauma
  • Persistent pelvic pain
  • Anovulation
  • Amenorrhea
  • Sexual function
  • Abortions
  • Appendicitis, gastritis, other abdominal inflammation

Adhesions develop through a woman’s lifetime in various ways:

  • Abdominal or pelvic surgery
  • Back surgery
  • Endometriosis, sexually transmitted diseasa, IUD
  • Fall onto hip, buttocks, or tailbone
  • Hip surgery
  • Low back, hip or leg pain
  • Pain or cramps in abdomen or groin
  • Pain with sitting or with sexual intercourse
  • Pelvic Inflammatory disease, bladder or yeast infections
  • Physical trauma or vehicle accident
  • Physical of sexual abuse
  • Physical PMS symptoms, Vaginitis, cystitis, colitis, other pelvic inflammations

Chronic pelvic pain can be debilitating and difficult to handle on a daily basis. Typically pelvic pain can occur within the structures surrounding the female reproductive organs such as the urinary bladder, bowel, musculature, ligaments and bones. Also, pain could be coming from the reproductive organs themselves.

Women who have dealt with any of the following may suffer from pelvic pain:

  • Pelvic surgery of any kind such as: laparoscopy, laparotomy, D&C, LEEP, abortion, cystocele or rectocele repair, c-section, bladder sling or hysterectomy
  • Vaginal childbirth
  • Sexual abuse trauma
  • Urinary tract or yeast infection
  • Endometriosis

Mercier Massage Therapy for pelvic pain is done over a period of 4-6 weeks and can be broken into twelve 30 minute sessions or six 1 hour sessions (length of session will depend on patients tolerance to therapy). This massage technique is done abdominally and requires NO invasive work. Appropriate referral to a Uro/Gyn Physician can be given for further evaluation.
